An Evaluation of the impact of training imparted by the AKRSP (I) in Gujarat (November 1996 - February 1997)
The study aims at assessing the impact of training in terms of acquired skills and awareness provided to the beneficiaries of AKRSP, (I). In-depth interviews were conducted among 119 beneficiaries covering 34 villages of six Talukas of three Districts.
Impact Evaluation of Training for Medical Officers in Community Ophthalmology (July 1999 – May 2000)
This evaluation study was sponsored by Health Sector Group, Department for International Development (DFID). The objective of the study was to evaluate the impact of the training given to Medical Officers and District Surgeons in community ophthalmology. Actual training in the three premiere ophthalmology hospitals in the country at Delhi, Calcutta and Hyderabad, were observed and in-depth interviews with trainees and, trainers and paramedics working in PHCs and CHCs were conducted. Besides, the study also involved field observations of service delivery and job performance of the trainees.
Mid Evaluation of RCH Project undertaken by Bhoj (Open) University, Bhopal (January - May 2003)
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi sponsored the study. The study aims at collecting data from the beneficiaries, who were mainly medical and paramedical staff working in PHC and CHC in Madhya Pradesh. Bhoj University has trained these staff on specific RCH skills. The Ministry is interested to get the feed back of the training programmes undertaken by the Bhoj University. TALEEM Research Foundation has been entrusted for the evaluation of the same project.
Social Audit of Community Development Projects of TATA Chemicals Ltd (February 2004 - April 2004) photo 19
The study was sponsored by TATA Chemicals Limited, Mithapur, Gujarat. The study aimed to evaluate the community development efforts made by TATA Chemicals Limited in the regions where the TCL plants were located (Babrala in U. P. and Mithapur in Gujarat) during last ten years. These efforts included development programmes for educational, infrastructure, women empowerment through vocational training and self help groups etc. The objective was to benchmark the development efforts and also strengthen efforts in future. Data were collected from more than eight hundred beneficiaries of TCL in about twenty project villages and a few non-project villages as well. Besides beneficiary survey and focused group discussions, in-depth interviews of volunteers and TCL/TCSRD functionaries, were also conducted to get a holistic perspective of the development programmes.

The main aim of the assessment study was to see the community’s changing perception towards ongoing community development programmes implemented by TCL/TCSRD in two regions that is Babrala in U. P. and Mithapur in Gujarat during last one year. The ongoing projects include, Infrastructure Development, Self Help Group, Land reclamation and Agricultural Growth, Intensive Family Welfare Programme, Watershed Development and Handicraft Promotion programme. Data were collected from more than seven hundred beneficiaries of TCL in about twenty-five project villages. Besides beneficiaries’ survey and focused group discussions, in-depth interviews of TCL/TCSRD functionaries, were also conducted to get a holistic perspective of the development programmes.
Sustainable Development through Community Empowerment in Dumka District, Jharkhand (January to April 2006)
Badlao Foundation has been involved in community development programmes in Jharkhand since 1995, was provided a separate grant by ICCO, Netherlands for community empowerment in 50 villages of Dumka district during 2003-2006. TALEEM was entrusted with the responsibility of carrying out this evaluation. Data were collected from beneficiaries and Badlao Foundation’s records were reviewed.
Pre-funding Evaluation of the Project, “Skill Up-Gradation for Rural Women – Tata Chemical Society of Rural Development” (September, 2006)
Council for Advancement of People’s Action and Rural Technology (CAPART), Ahmedabad had entrusted the foundation to carry out the pre-funding evaluation of the project for Tata Chemical Society of Rural Development, Tata Chemical LTD, Mithapur. The evaluation report was submitted to CAPART.
Pre-funding Evaluation of the Project, “Empowering Disadvantaged Groups by Providing Self Employment/ Employment Opportunities in Tribal Area of Gujarat State” (December, 2006)
TALEEM Research Foundation was entrusted by CAPART, Ahmedabad to carry out this evaluation. The objective of the proposed intervention was to promote self employment of ST/SC in three Talukas of Sabarkantha district of Gujarat. The feasibility in context of organization capacity of International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Carrier Development (ICECD) was determined and referred to CAPART.
Pre-funding Evaluation of the Project, “Bridging the Digital Gap: Village Information and Dissemination Centres in Satlasana Taluka, Mehsana District” (December, 2006)
TALEEM Research Foundation was entrusted by CAPART, Ahmedabad to carry out this evaluation. The objective of the project was to develop congregation of information technology (IT) system, training of rural youth can compute and dissemination of the needed information for development to people in selected village in Satlasana of Mehsana district, Gujarat. The project was reviewed in relation to support through effective networking of VIKSAT. The project was expected to strengthen the VIKSAT developmental activities and referred to CAPART.
Mid Term Evaluation of the Project, “Integrated Rural Development Program” (June, 2007)
Council for Advancement of People’s Action and Rural Technology (CAPART), Ahmedabad had entrusted the foundation to carry out this evaluation. Mid-term evaluation of the project for proper utilization of fund given to New India Khadi Gramodhyog Charitable Trust, Ahmedabad was assessed and the report was submitted to CAPART.
Pre-funding Evaluation of the Project, “Computer Literacy Training Programme for Rural Youth” (June, 2008)
The evaluation study was carried out by the foundation for CAPART, Ahmedabad. Bahrat Samaj Sewa Samiti, Ahmedabad had submitted the proposal to raise awareness about computer and its application and provide training to rural youth. The foundation made assessment of the feasibility of the proposal and submitted the report to CAPART.
Administration of Land Revenue – An Evaluation Study (December 2009- March 2010)
The study was sponsored by Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA), Ahmedabad. The main objective of the study was to evaluate the administration of land revenue system in Gujarat to improve the policies and procedures of land revenue work more transparent and people oriented. The study covered 66 case studies of Collector, deputy collector and functionaries of land revenue department and survey of 1204 land owners.
Third Party Audit (TPA) of Annual Health Survey (October 2010 –ongoing)
The study has been sponsored by Registrar General of India (ORGI), Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, New Delhi. The objective of the Annual Health Survey (AHS) is to assess the efficacy of various health interventions including those under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). TALEEM has been entrusted to monitor and evaluate the performance of Survey Agencies and quality of data collected by the Agencies under AHS in four states namely Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The total sample of Household to be surveyed in all four states under TPA is approximately 1,41,380.
